Thanks man.

Nothing is set yet - it's not definite - but it's looking VERY probable that we're moving.

All depends on the money I can make out there. Looking forward to visiting there though, and seeing what we can do. It's an exciting time - I mean, if the job works, our next step is to find an apartment (and we'll only be out there for a week!), so we can have a place set up beforehand. Then come home, tie up loose ends, ship one car out there by auto transport, rent a truck with a car tow trailer, pack it up and drive cross-country! I think the drive will be cool, too - furthest car trip I ever took was to DC. That's like 6 hours - this will be 40 hours, and 2500 miles. Woohoo!

Sorry for the rambling - I'm just really psyched about the possibilities.

I gotta say that moving is probably one of the worst parts about being in the military. Every few years, its pick up and go somewhere else. My gf/fiancee lives in queens, so I doubt I will be looking to leave there anytime soon. Got two more stations after this one now and its retirement time. Gonna work at Walmart and pass out stickers to everyone as they come in. LI isn't my first choice of locales but from what I have seem it wil definitely be one of the best. I'll see ya'll when I get there!!

Southern by birth, Texan by the grace of God.

Oh yeah - don't take my personal displeasure with life here to mean that it's not a great place to live. Fact is, if it was cheaper to live here, and there wasn't the traffic issue I wouldn't be leaving. Traffic is HORRIBLE - for real. The two "rush hours" take up 8 hours per day - no joke. There are HOV lanes on the LI Expressway (2 or more people in the car), and the restriction is from 6 to 10 am, and from 3 to 7 pm! I love the Island - great beaches (and you're always 15 minutes from the water, wherever you are), close to Manhattan without being urban - it's a great place.

But, I've lived here my whole 29 years, and I've grown weary of it. Time for me to make a change.

Best of luck here, though - and I'm sure you'll find it's a great place to be.
