Sorry, bro - just found the thread!

Amityville here - hoping to find a house to buy soon. Prices are insane, but I need to get out of Amityville - the iwife and I wanna have some babies, and I need a house for that!

Where you at? Where do you travel? I'll be sure to give you a shout if I see you around. I've got a 2002, silver. My fog lights are modded, so they can be on without the headlights (you'll see - your car will only be able to have the fogs on WITH the headlights. I can help you mod it if you want - then you can have them on with just the parking lights). You can check my signature for some more pics.

So if you see a silver P5 with just the fogs on, or you hear an air horn blaring, that'd be me!

Fellas - WTF am I gonna do if there is an MTA strike??

Bloomberg says only cars w/4 people or more will be allowed into Manhattan, and will even be restricted on roads like th LIE in Queens - it'll be 24 hour HOV+4 as they call it.

I work in NYC about 80% of the time.

I MUST drive in - I carry tools and all sorts of other crap everyday - and I need ALL of it.

I can't ******* carpool - I leave for work between 5 and 5:30 AM, I work ALONE, and I don't even have room for 3 passengers most days - I have a frigging ladder in my back seat for crying out loud.

So WTF am I supposed to do? Not ******* work?

Bloomberg is starting to **** me off. At least after the WTC attack, I could still get into Manhattan, cuz Giuliani only started the restrictions at 6 AM. Bloom wants to make 'em 24 hours a day until any strike is over. This guy will put me out of ******* work indefinitely.

ARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!

well seeing the time you leave and the fact that you carry cargo, the city is going to have to allow you to enter. there is just no other way around it. also, what the hell happens if you drive a two seater, like a miata. they ain't gonna let you drive?!? i mean WTF?!? i definatly agree with you, bloomberg is whack, and he needs to go.

**** man - they don't HAVE to let me do anything. It seems the Triborough Bridge might not have the restrictions, so there might be a way. But it'll sure suck to have to come in at 125th if I have to work midtown or worse - downtown.

Interesting point about the Miata - I'm guessing two seaters are out. Phucked up.

And yeah - I'm not too impressed with Bloomberg yet. I mean, I don't live in the city - but I'm starting to hear trickle-down complaints about things getting dirty and gritty again in the city for those who live there.

We need Rudy back! He may have been a *****, but he was the best mayor NYC ever had - the man knew how to run a city.

M T A STRIKE

It won't happen it'll cost the TRANSIT WORKERS TO MUTCH $$$$$$$.Tha last time thay went to court to stop it and it did.
Then it would have cost each worker PERSONALLY about $1,000,000 AFTER one week. The TAYLOR LAW ONLY WOULD COST TWO DAYS PAY FOR EVERY THAY ARE OUT. Thay could make a point for a couple of days and recoup. NOT ANY MORE !!!!!!!

Cool

I should be in Long Island starting in the spring/summer. I'm transferring out of Boston. I'll be in the Moriches area. What's the housing like out there?

Certain parts of Moriches are nice, others aren't so nice........same as anywhere I guess - but I'm not familiar enough to know what areas are better.

Housing is similar to the rest of Long Island - meaning EXPENSIVE. Moriches is more eastern (further out) on the Island, so things are a little bit cheaper, but not too much.

I don't know what you are looking for, but as far as homes for sale, I'd guess you could find a nice, but small house, say a 3 bedroom ranch, for around $225k - $250k. Just a rough estimate, and of course the range of home prices is huge - you can live in a crappy place for $125k, or a real nice place for $700k+.

If you're looking to rent, expect to find apartments to be in the $850 - $1200 / month range, depending on location and # of bedrooms, of course. I'm about 40 miles west of Moriches, and I pay $950 a month for a 1 bedroom place in an aparment complex - and not the greatest neighborhood, either. For my area, $950 is a decent deal - nicer neighborhoods near me go for $1100+/month.

Funny - I'm looking to LEAVE Long Island - probably headed to Arizona within the next month - cost of living (housing, mainly) is about half what it is here. I'm visiting in two weeks, and if the job interview I have lined up goes well, I'm outta here.

Yeah - sorry bro. I do wish I had been able to meet with more Pro owners around here, amybe hit an auto-x or two. But - opportunity knocks, and I'm not getting any younger. Just got married, no kids - if we're gonna take the plunge, now's the right time in life to do it.

Don't worry, though - even the hot desert sun can't bake the Strong Islander outta me .
