I don't plan on keeping any car that long...

BTW, my step-fathers '88 Dodge Aries croaked at 189K. Thats pretty good, if you ask me.
It was still doing okay till the axle broke. He kept procrastinating on fixing. Then about a year after he gave it to junk.

mmmm, at 7 to 7,500 that would work for me, just not in the market at the moment. you overly obsess, this car handles worse than the protege BECAUSE it can't corner that well. i've driven a 99 pro, i've driven the 2003 sxt and the srt-4, and of course, my beater. laterally, the srt-4 is no comparisson, curves, sometimes the steering feels like you're driving a tank. if you DO do any reasearch, you will find out that head gasket and power control module problems were not much of an issue after 97. however, i will say this from experience, if you drive an SXT hard, it will go down hard. my friend's ******* boyfriend, killed the transmission, balded the front tires and threw out the front brakes in less than 12,000 miles of the car being bought. got everything fixed under warranty and still runs like ****. the neon is just like any other car, you abuse it and drive it hard, it will go down. while i don't think head gaskets are an issue any longer, the srt-4 is one fast car off the line. and if it says anything, i was equally impressed by an acura 3.2 TL at 2 years old with 45,000 miles added on it.
peace

I don't actually have it yet. The dealership in my area said it will be about another 2 weeks before they get their shipment. I'm first on the list for black.

I also have strong possible buy for my car.

I'm just tired of all the Neon haters...What car won't make it to 100K?
So what? I like the car. If you don't, then shut your trap, because ppl aren't changing my mind. I'm getting this car for ME. Not to please others.

jon i am with you but all i am saying is that the srt would be good car for the 1/4 mile, but the mps would rule the curves of a touring course. Hands down the mps is a better car.

The other thing is that if you take care of any car it will last forever. The services that they recommend like the 24k, 48k, etc. are to benifit your car, I knew a guy that had 450,000 kilometers on his mx 3 but he finally ignored the oil seals leaking.

Mazdas will last like a honda if not longer, (not an interference engine)

I personally dont care if any care can last 100k miles I cant stand any care after having for a while, the longest I have driven the same car was a year and a half, so I dont blame ya for getting rid of your pro, I just wish I could swap mine for an impreza.

Personally, i think hes makin a good upgrade. The SRT4 is a hell of a car, **** sport compact car picked it as its best compact of the year for the first time ever... that says a hell of a lot. And overall, the neons arent bad handling cars, **** they were handing rx7s and some other fine cars, their asses in autocross. Ask jesse about how well they do in autocross (regardless if they need a LSD bad).

but ****, if i could do it, i would buy a srt4, i hate mopars, but thats one dodge that is respectable. and i would be surprised if there isnt already tons of options to fix its two major/minor flaws. Im sure there is or will be a LSD for it very soon, and secondly making it handle even better.... **** theres gotta be atleast 3 or 4 options out already.

So ****, go for it, and black is the coolest color just make sure you post up some pictures, or atleast show me some.... cause i wanna see

Thanks Bro...

and yes, Mopar does have a Quaife LSD for it. Other than rims, that will be my first mod.

To name a few:

Mopar parts available for SRT-4...

- Cold Air Intake System
- Catback Exhaust
- Downpipe
- Blow off valve
- Adjustable Coilover suspension
- Gauges
- Valve Covers (all colors and carbon fiber)
- Turbo Timer
- Stage 1,2,3 turbo upgrades
- LSD
- Short Throw Shifter
- Shift ****
- Swaybars (front and rear- adjustable)
- Strut Tower Brace
- StopTech big brake upgrade

Mopar Stage I kit- $399. / upgraded fuel injectors and a PCM.....240hp and 260 ft-lbs (Not a bad way to waste $400)

Stage II I believe stage 2 is every bit of 300hp

Stage III haven't read much on it as yet, but its beyond 300hp+

Well I was doing some more researching and the 2004 SRT-4 IS coming with an LSD standard. Also moonroof, which the MSP doesn't have, and they have also juiced up the sound system. After all this, the price is still under 20k and a 2003 is going for under 19k.
They also replaced the color yellow with blue and the hp numbers are up from 215 to 225.

Don't worry about those HP numbers, they most likely don't mean anything. SRTs will put down as much to the wheels as dodge is claiming, so maybe they're just re-claiming a higher crank figure?

So shem are you looking at a '03 or '04. Are their really that many differences between them. If your not going to keep a car for long its cheapier to lease.

wait for that model with the sunroof... It will be well worth the wait , especially for a new ride..

Good luck with the new car...

If I had to choose...
based of off the aftermarket for the 2 cars ..
It would be the SRT ...
why --- turbo upgrades.. there are plenty for the SRT out and I don't really see many Turbo Upgrade Systems for the MSP...

When your shopping for a new car, If your into the aftermarket aspect, you will pay close attention to this one detail... If you have looked at the MSP aftermarket .. You will see some things, but not as much as say a WRX , or SRT , or other Basic Turbo Cars..
