Question What is the best CAI ?

Hi All,
I'm in the market for a CAI. I'm looking at AEM, Simota ( who has 3 different design's) and Injen. Can anyone tell me what the ture diff. is between the 5 that I listed. It would be great if you could send some pic's of your's also. I can not find a web site that really say's whats best. Your help is welcome!

I have an Injen, and while it sounds nice and seems gives a bit of a power boost I regret the price I paid.

Best bet; go with a Simota from kargoboy (Gary) on this site. Same performance, but you'll spend a lot less. Quite a few people here have them and I've nothing but great things.

Thank's for your advice! Simota has 3 different styles for the Mazda 3 2.3. Which styles of the Simota does kargoboy stock? Is one better then the other ?

I have Simota as well and I guarantee it performs just as good as the Injen that's 3x the Simota price tag.

Thanks for the plugs, guys...I have two in stock...not sure what the 3rd design is, I'll have to look it up!
1) Carbon Fiber SRI. Airbox/Heatshield is 100% Carbon Fiber.
SRI will give you a better initial throttle response. The CF also makes it
more expensive. $195 + 15 shipping.
2) Twin Charger CAI. The design uses the Venturi Effect to accelerate the air flow
into the throttle body. That doesn't really mean anything, except that the
smaller diameter tubing will give you a better response in the mid RPM range.
$99 + 15 shipping.
Hit me up if you want one.

They're all about the same man. It's a cone filter + aluminum piping .. end of story. Some are more expensive cuz they're name brand, others because they have better fitment, and some (*cough* Simota *cough*) have all of the above minus the crazy price. So either way you look at it a CAI gives you an additional 2-3 HP by itself, so it's up to you to figure out how much you're willing to spend for a piece of shiny aluminum pipe and a filter.

^^^ Haha! Well said. I bought my Injen when I knew far less about cars.
For about $300, I would have rather'd spend $99 on a Simota, and $200 towards a good exhaust.

Ohhhhhhhh, now I know which is the 3rd...

The Carbon Fiber intake I sell is the CF-625-1. The CB-651 is totally different, and I don't sell it. The ST-651 is the Twin-Charger.

Your location shouldn't take more than two or three days.

the only good thing about the K&N is that it can be used as a SRI or a CAI.

Cute SRI there, looks like my first one. You should buy one of these for it to give it some character when you're running as SRI:

Edit--crap, I can't attach pics directly any more?

And yeah, that's my listing...

I think that might make it a bit too heavy on the filter end .. so I think I'll just stick with the filter for now. I have one of those (non CF style) for when I run in CAI mode so I don't have to clean the filter as much from all the dirt that builds up inside the fender.
