There is actually a guy on www.mazda3forums.com that had his govenor removed from guys at a mazda dealership.

I work with the WDS and IDS system everyday I go to work, and I know nothing of this ability to remove the governer. Besides, like everyone else says, it's just not the smart thing to do unless you are turning it into a 10 second FWD dragster, which would cost bundles.

I'm glad my RX-7 has no speed governer, nor a rev limiter. But even then, the fastest I have taken it up to is when I ran a 14.00 @ 101. This was with just a turbo back exhaust and an upgraded TID, blown coolant seals, and who knows how low of compression. My 60ft was a 2.25 which pretty much sucks for a RWD car with a factory LSD. I should have pulled a 13.8 at the minimum on that run. Motor and tranny is out, gonna be doing a complete rebuild/port on the motor. I'll keep anyone updated about the project, if interested.

Let me tell you that its pretty damn stable at 118...Ive done it several times. Even with the old junk tires it was stable.
