ok so to get the car to like 120 in the 1/4 you need.........

Vehicle Weight (in pounds): 2600
Vehicle Horsepower: 350
RPM through lights (finish line): 7000
Tire Diameter (Hght.) in Inches: 25
1/4 Mile ET: 10.91
1/4 Mile Top End Speed: 120.
Ideal 1/4 Mile Gear Ratio: 4.34 the 3 has a 4:10 trans axle

so you need to worrie about this when you are putting 350 hp to the road but at the car is about 150hp at the crank stock prolly puts down about 130 hp to the road

" I know once I put the turbo kit on, upgrade the cam shaft and install bigger fuel injectors in my car it will do well over 118 in the quarter mile"

those mods
might be good for about a total of 275 hp at the crank but its just not going to get that car into the high 10s low 11s which is what you would be need to be running to worrie about breaking 118 in the 1/4 that point the ECU will need a custom tune and then the top end can be taken care of

Sorry I like my 3 its a good lil car but it is NOTHING like my stang go for a ride in a real muscle car that actully has some torqe and you will see what i mean

BTW my stang will do low 13s all day at about 103
out of the box. but this one has never seen the track.

If you install a turbo you're going to need to replace or piggyback the ECU anyway, which will get rid of the limiter.

as previously stated, mach 1's will run pretty far into the 13's...I dont's know what you consider low, but a mach 1 is good for about 13.3-13.4

I've not seen a STOCK mach1 run those times but thats not to say it wont happen. Also, mach1's aren't NEARLY as common as regular GT's which is what 90% of mustang owners on car forums seem to drive.

There is a local guy who had a CAI and NITTOs run a 13.5s at our local track....craziest thing...he was shooting for 13.99s and every pass he made he got .2-.3 faster....he topped out at 13.5 and started getting slower....still I was shocked.

You are right about machs not being commen since there are were only 17,000 built in 03 and 04

I am on the lookout for them and i only see a few differnt ones every year and most of that is at shows and events

allot of folks seem to forget that the mach 1 is a what happend when a GT and a cobra got together and made a baby

Hate to be a magazine racer, but I don't personally have a Mach 1

March 03 Issue, Modified Mustangs and Fast Fords

Factory Stock Grey 5 speed 2003 Mach 1

Evan Smith ran a 13.135 @ 105.51

nah...tremendous driver...but not a factory freak car...

Mach 1 is a 32 valve 4.6L, while a GT is a 16 valve 4.6L...plus better suspension too...it's a bit more than just a GT with a shaker hood...

they probably feel close with a butt dyno because the torque numbers are pretty close...

45+ extra whp is gonna give you better than .1 or .2 on the 1/4 mile

Thing is with the mach is that you really dont feel it pull untill the higher RPMs

while a GT will just die after 5500 rpms thats when the mach hits its sweet spot and then you can tell a big differnce red line is 7k which is even 500 rpms higher than the 3

Let also not forget the mach came thru with 3:55s Vs 3:27s for a GT

also the brakes are MUCH better than the GT

Dealers have no way of removing the govenor. We are not allowed access to that area of the PCM.
