Manual boost controllers - Mazdaspeed3

I really like the idea of a manual boost controller with two different boost levels and the ability to switch between each via a switch in the cabin somewhere. What I don't know is if a boost controller would be the only thing needed (to make a boost controller work) for the Mazdaspeed3. For instance I've seen that if boosting over certain psi some setups need a fuel cut defencer. Would we need that? Has anyone installed one to increase boost a bit? It seems like the bypass valve begins recirculating really early and this seems like a fairly good way to alleviate that early release.

Anyone have pics? A how-to? Other info?

(and totally unrelated, I shaved the stock mazdaspeed 3 badge with some floss and a hair dryer. it worked like a charm and looks very clean!)

Thanks
