exhaust help

So i wanna get an exhaust system for my car but i dont wanna spend 500+ on a bran name exhaust, so i went out and got a few different quotes from muffler shops all within 250-300.

basically what they would do is cut in front of my cat and replae the tubing with 2.5 inch and just put an after market muffler on the end.

my only problem is im sketched out about what it will sound like, i dont want it to sound ricey i want it to be as deep as possible. will that depend on what type of muffler i get? and what if i dont even use a muffler and just run it straight pipe, would that be to loud and annoying?

thats the route im taking....getting a catback bent for me at half the price of some **** name brand corporation. you might want to do some research on the muffler though....distributers know they wont sell as many mufflers, if they dont sound "deep and throaty", so they all say that now....no one wants a rice rocket anymore....unless theyre 16 and just saw the fast and the furious remake. ps. no muffler=you getting pulled over and fined by the first cop that notices....

i wouldn't reccomend going straightpipe unless its a ms3 or else it won't sound so good. Definately look up the mufflers. Even go on youtube or something to see how the one you want sounds.
