Top of the headlights

I have a 2007 mazda 3s sedan. I have kept it pretty clean and always clay bar once a year and wax a few times a year. Anyway I have always used the headlight cleaner and protection on the headlights when I was the car. They are all clear except right by the hood on top of the head light. They are getting fogging and cloudy but it is just very top of the headlights right by the hood. I noticed it has just happened the last few years. So not sure what happened.

I looked at some other 3s around and notice the same thing and also on some mazda 6s of the same generation. Not really blocking light from the headlights but just looks bad.

Anybody have this and fix it. Bought a headlight restorer kit and just waiting for some dry days in a row to use it because it says the headlights have to stay dry for 24 hours after you use the kit.

Once the sun cooks off the clear coat and UV protection from the plastic, the lenses are doomed. I have taken to buffing out the plastic and waxing with a good synthetic.

Thanks for the reply. I used turtle wax headlight restoration on them last night. It is the kit that comes with the pads. They look brand new now. The kit did the job but I will see how long it lasts. Looked at them this morning and they are still looking new. This wasn't too bad to do took between and hour and two doing both headlights.

I am sure the other kits that come with those pads will do just as good of job. Turtle wax quit selling their ice paint sealant protection along with their clay kit. They also changed their liquid clear wax to where it looks a little cloudy now so right now I am not positive on turtle wax as a compnany and some of the item decisions they are making. I like their paint sealant and still have some left and use it once a year since it came out and it has always worked for me. I also liked their clear liquid wax polish but they changed that too so I might be switching products in the future.

Chemical Guys has some pretty amazing stuff and more niche products than you can count. They sell on Amazon to the regular consumer. I use a synthetic wax called HD Poxy which is amazing. Unbelievable shine and probably the easiest product to use I've ever encountered. Also sold on Amazon.
