hey guys i drive a 2007 hatchback manual mazada 3, the past few days whenever i try to start it in first the car it goes silent than starts making a grinding noise, i push the clutch all the way down, any idea whats happening?

sounds like the starter isn't engaging properly - why are you starting it in first anyway?
you say whenever you try... is it every time? does the car start or just grind?
