Hi all,

I bought my 05 sport in Oct and now have 4000km on it, the only problem are rear brake dust and some noise from the passenger side. no complaint with the car so far. Wish they have the Xenon package up north. I am not sure about most of you guy but my car came with a 3 year full service with the dealer (all schedule maintance and oil change every 5000km).

Hope all your problem are solved.

hello everyone,
im a happy 2005 mazda 3 owner from new jersey..
purchased the car about 2 weeks ago, had 7 miles on it and im pushing close to 350 miles on right now, no problems so far, and hopefully it stays that way..
only thing i need to find ,is a way to keep the rear cargo cover thing from rattling when going over bumps..
my previous car was a 1996 integra gs-r, loved the car, never gave me a problem but there high theft cars in my area and sure enough mine was stolen in october of this year...i hated the rattles i got in my integra but i had a crazy drop with high spring rates so that was a normal thing to happen, but it still annoyed me that i couldnt make the integra rattle free..so im hoping to keep my mazda3 rattle free...

well thats all from me for now, im looking forward to learning alot about my new mazda 3 and enjoying the new forum..

My list of troubles with my Mazda3

I had a hole bunch of things going wrong with my Mazda since I bought in January'04.

-Sunroof Rattle
-Fuel Pump replaced (car didn't start after first turn of ignition, known issue to Mazda
-Glovebox lid replaced (did not close properly)
-Clutch cylinder replaced (squeeling noise when clutch pedal is being pressed)
-High Oil Consumption 0.5L on 3000km (they are still looking into that one)
-Clunking noise in the front (Drive shafts will be replaced, they just got the new design ones in, known issue to Mazda)
-Crash Zone Sensor replacement (Mazda Recall)
-Rear lights needed realignment (rear lights on the hatch were touching the lights on the body when hatch is closed)
-Windows Regulator left and right replaced (Winding noise when closing the windows)

Needless to say that I am not very impressed with my new Mazda, even though it is a lot of fun to drive it.

Mine is a 3 Sport GT and has given me no mechanical problems in six months of driving. Couple of gripes, mind you... My driver's door has had a rattle in it since I got it, and the front brakes squeal in the morning (dealer says that replacing the pads might help this, but I'm on my own convincing Mazda Canada to foot the bill...). I had a 2002 Acura EL (the Canadian version of a Civic EX in a tuxedo) before this that saw the dealership a half-dozen times in that period. Enough proof for me that a Japanese Car that's still built in Japan is miles ahead of it's domestically assembled competitors.

Hey RyAndCoke!

I'm in Calgary too and am also having squeeling brakes. Mine don't just squeel in the morning anymore. Where did you purchase your car? Perhaps I can start hounding them as well...they might actually DO something about it...

Also, my windshield wipers sucked when I bought the car...they streaked and never did a very good job. Now that we have all the road gunk spraying up from other snowy vehicles, they aren't cleaning the windshield at all...they don't even touch the glass. I stopped the car twice on the way to work to try and adjust them...but within 5 minutes they start working poorly again. Have you had the same problem?

Squealing brakes. You and/or mechanic should check for warped rotors, excessive or uneven wear on pads or rotors. Also check for build-up of road crud and/or rust. How do things look? If no such problems, some squeaking while stopping might be normal!

Wipers - have you replaced the rubber blades? Still problems? Is there sufficient pressure/tension on the arm? If not, why? There should be a spring pressing the arm against the window. Is the pivot gunked up? (I had that happen on an old car.) Inspect/clean/adjust/lubricate and if necessary (use judgement) replace worn or brokern or bent out of shape or defective parts. This one should be easy and cheaper(!) than the brakes.

I bought my car at Kramer Mazda, and one of the Service Writers told me that the problem could have to do with an earlier caliper design (since my car was a mid-'04 build, this wasn't the case; my car has the newer caliper design). Failing that, he said other customers have been complaining to Mazda Canada to get their pads changed to an upgraded, Mazda OEM pad. He suggested I try this too, as there is no recall in place. I also drive an '04 Dakota 4x4, which has to have a couple thousand pounds over the 3 (at least), and the brakes don't make a sound and have no dust buildup (glad to finally have the winter steelies on, now I don't have to live at the car wash cleaning it up!!)

My driver's side wiper clears fine, but the passenger side streaks like crazy. Also, my rain-sensor doesn't work worth a &#$! now that it's cold out (favorite feature on the car, and now I have to turn it off because it's hyper-sensitive no matter how I adjust the setting). I will probably go and get some 'teflon' blades at the Canadian Tire and see if things get better...

I'll be swingin' by Kramer Mazda next week for some words. I'll mention my craptacular squeeling. I had a Toyota 4-Runner and never had any noise from the brakes. I'm not doing steelies this winter...I probably should have though.

My rain sensor is also hyper sensitive. I've given up on it until spring. I will get new wipers. I just don't like having to go to crappy Tire for $40 worth of wipers when the ones on the car should have done the job.

Talking Transmissions and Gas Questions

I bought my car in Oct 04, and so far its been GREAT but recently i've been having a bit of problems but they were somewhat solved but the transmission is been giving me grief.

When the engine is cold, the car shakes hard when going from 1st to 2nd gear, when it warms up its perfectly fine so I have to drive in manual to warm it up to avoid the shake.

I took it to the dealership and the mechanic says theres a software problem and Mazda is fixing it as we speak and 3 other car had the same problem so their waiting for the issue to be resolved.... has anybody else heard or have the same problem?

Also does it matter if I use 89 as opposed to 87 octane gas? cause I know the owner manual says use regular.

Thanks

when i sift my 3 from secound to first it some times its a little hard to get in gear i figured its because its just a little frosen up and the tranny fluids have to warm up
