Hey, quick question, does the bose system in the MS3 decode mp3s? Please say it does!

No. The stock HU in any model/variation in the US doesn't play Mp3 CD's. There is an available Mp3/6CD changer for somewhere around $450.

Isn't that the unit that comes stock in the MS3 GT?

No.
icspots mentioned none of the Mazdas come with MP3 ability - the HU that plays MP3s is an optional accessory.

The MS3 GT will have an MP3 jack that you can plug an MP3 player/ipod into.

Correct, NO Mz3's in the US come standard with a stereo that reads Mp3 CD's. The only difference between the stereo in the standard 3 and the GT is that the GT has a bose system with a sub, and the standard system doesn't.

Olestra, all 2007 model 3's come standard with the ACI (Auxiliary Console Input), not just the speed3 GT.

There is an option for a 6-disc MP3 changer, which is not the bose 6-disc... that's what i've ordered.

It would be pretty easy I imagine to order the 6-disc/mp3 unit and install it myself. Would that void any warranty or anything? I'm guessing it would and they would refuse to cover the stereo.

install of hu

As far as the warrenty I'm not sure I can't see too much that could go wrong. But as for as installation the stock HU is pretty simple to take out. You start with opening the glove compartment and snapping off the decorative trim piece. Then after that there is only a few screws to pop out.

Not sure if you're saying the 6CD/Mp3 isn't bose, or if that's just what you ordered. Anyway you can order the 6CD/Mp3 in any combination of with/without bose or NAV.

I know what you mean. I have an aftermarket CD changer in my wife's car with a 10 disc cartridge. It switches between them much faster than the in dash in the 3, plus you can shuffle between discs which the 3 won't do.

It's a very easy install and should take you maybe five minutes (depending on how careful you are with taking apart your car for the first time. If you want to avoid the dealer and warranty info. then order the stereo from Jason Bagman. He's the webmaster of www.onlinemazdaparts.com and works in the parts department at Montgomery Mazda in Charlotte, NC. He's great to work with and will ship right to you. If something goes wrong later then just go to the dealer and say your Mp3 deck isn't working and you want a new one.

the bose system is normal CD only, the mp3 changer version is not bose - kinda stinks that the "top level" bose wouldn't have an mp3 option.

I installed a 12 CD mp3 changer in the trunk and I'm happy with it. It's kinda nice to have about 8GB of music in your car

I want an MP3 cd changer!!! where you get yours from? cuz i'm tired of just waiting for the next cd to load and i have to keep flipping through discs... I was actually thinking of just buying a single MP3 Cd player (the lil hand held joints) and plug that in.. :-D
