Mazda Speed3 Discontinued for 2009??

I own a 2007 speed3 and just love it! But I have a disturbing question...
Has Mazda decided not to continue with the speed3 in 2009? And if so does anyone know why? And if it is true I guess all of us that have a 2007 and 2008
better hold on to them... Not that I planned on selling mine anyway.

When I bought my '08 Speed3 I was told that Mazda was discontinuing them after 2008 because Mazda generally only makes their "Speed" vehicles for two years. The dealer tried using this tactic on me to jack the price up, but I wasn't buying it.

To answer your question, No, Mazda has not discontinued the Speed3 for 2009. If you go to Mazdausa.com and search dealer inventory you'll see that 2009 Speed3's are available.

Rumor is that they will stop producing them in January of 09. The reason is simple. The mazdaspeed variants are limited run models and are generally released in the last couple of years of a model run. I believe the protege, Miata, and 6 all ran for two years. The reason the 3 went for 3 years could just be because they pushed back the release of the new model.... could also be that it sells well. It would be nice if they decide to made a standard speed3 model on the new design but I wouldn't hold your breath.

09 speed3

yes it is true this is the last year that there will be speed3s. They will only produce a limited amount of speed 3s for half of the 09 year. It is true what other people are saying speeds are only put in production for only 2 years but the reason the speed3 has come with 09 is because they were selling really well.

I think the two year thing is true, but if it sells too good, the color of money will sway Mazda to continue it. And the Mazda 6 will be available in a Mazdaspeed package starting in 2010.
