Just a quick blurb, but thought you guys would be interested

From the Detroit news:

The Mazda3 will undergo a major redesign for the 2009 model year. The 3 is expected to adopt a much more aggressive and sportier design and will be riding on the next-generation global Ford Focus C1 platform. It should measure in slightly wider and possibly a bit longer as well. The current base 2.0L motor will get a modest increase in horsepower, and the optional 2.3L 4-cylinder will get upgraded to 2.5L. This should give a boost of 20-30 hp. It's possible that both motors will feature direct-injection technology.

f'in A....direct injection on a 2.5L NA motor? very nice. I'd like to see how that turns out. I've heard DISI was the wave of the future NA cars as it's much more accurate and safer for engines. I'd like to see what it's capable of.

sounds sweet - I may have to get the new car in 3 years - was going to take our new mazda 3 2007 in 3 years and the wife gets the new car but I may have to change my mind.

A little bit bigger? The 3's are already big enough. Their the biggest compact car on the market.

Hopefully they'll keep the weight down otherwise those extra hp will be for naught.
