Civic Si Mazda3 s 5-Door
Curb Weight - Manual (lb.) 2744 2826
Standard Engine 2.0L 160 hp I4 2.3L 160 hp I4
Horsepower 160 @ 6500 RPM 160 @ 6500 RPM
Torque (lb-ft) 132 @ 5000 RPM 150 @ 4500 RPM

looking at that, i think it would be pretty close....i choose the 5 door b/c thats what i have, the sedan has a different weight i am sure.... i think the mazda would torque through it though?? 18 more ft lbs, and 80lbs heavier...??...mmmmmmmm...

Mazda also reaches peak torque at lower rpms...I really think it would be down to the driver...however all things being equal, I think the numbers favor the mazda...how about drag co efficient and gear ratios too...the honda's gearing may allow it to out accelerate the Mazda...which has better gas mileage??

I actually think the mazda has better gearing. I bet the honda would get better gas mileage though!

The honda would win. Nothing can beat the v-tech. I don't quite understand how the vvt on teh mazda 3 works but all I know is that the honda one is superior.

Nevermind. I just looked up the 0-60 times on google. the si gets 7.9 and the 3 gets 7.4 so the 3 wins. But the vtech sytem from honda is very nice nontheless.

HAHAHAAHAHAH! open mouth insert foot. My p5 with a header an intake can out run the new Si's in the 1/8th mile.

That was completely irrelivent. I am sure your car is quite nice but thats not what we are talking about. Anyway the 3 won.

irrelevant?? see if you can follow this logic-stream.

p5 beats Si.

Mazda3 beats p5.

therefore, mazda3 beats Si.

Well, I guess that works out. Off topic but good luck with the supercharging of your P5. If I had any money I would support you.

Don't get too cocky about your 3s yet.

I played in my 3s with a Ford Focus ZX3 and won, but not by much. He had 3 passengers, I had none. I was loaded down from a Costco trip, maybe 200lbs of cargo. We went several times to 110+ and I beat him every time, but not by much. I was surprized. Good thing for me he pie'd out at 110 or I'd have been on the limiter again. Safety freaks can just STFU. I have been racing for years. This was done on a striaght, flat road that is 12 miles long out in the middle of no where.

Is there a way to defeat the speed limiter on the 3 yet?

Spencer
