Question Mazda 3 Keyless Entry remotes & Programming

What does your local dealer charge for Mazda keyless entry remotes?

My local dealer wants $129 a piece plus $35 for programming for each of my cars (04 Mazda 3, 01 Miata).

I'm curious to see what other dealerships are charging for new remotes and programming.

I'm done with ebay because the listings show new remotes, and 3 out of 3 times I've won - I end up with junk that doesn't work and won't program. First one was superglued together and cracked. Can't check the battery if you can't even open it. Second one was completely corroded inside from water and didn't work. The 3rd one only 1 button worked and it looked like someone tried to superglue the circuit board pieces back together. Each one was advertised as new, or like new and they obviously weren't anywhere close to that. The Keyles Ride site is run by one of those same lying ebay sellers, so thats off the list too.

What does your local dealership charge? I bet there's some that want even more than what mine is charging.

Here in the u.k we charge £75 for the actual remote and around an hours labour to get it keyed in, its not all that cheap but at least the jobs done right and if it goes wrong at least you've got some one to take it back to.

Do the UK models use the same remotes as US models?

You can find a lot of remotes for the MZ3 on ebay. They are typically about US$10 to $15 shipped. Just make sure that it has the same code as the back of the ones that you have.

If you currently have two remotes, you can program the third yourself by following the instructions in the following thread:

http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=8247.0

If you've lost one of the remotes (ie, you only have one left), then the above instructions won't work and you will have to go back to the dealer to have the new remote programmed. However you can still save yourself a bundle of $$ by buying the remote from ebay instead of the dealer. Good luck!

I found another site online that I'm willing to give a shot - www.ThePartsYouNeed.com

The other KR site wants about $70 a piece with shipping for the 04 Mazda 3 remote.

They're less than 1/2 that price on ThePartsYouNeed site with the instructions included. I ordered 1 this morning.

https://www.thepartsyouneed.com/disp...productId=1427

I'll keep you guys posted. If it works good, I'm going to order one for my 01 Miata as well.

I bought a Mazda 3 2004 with a not working keyless entry remote, I bought another from e-bay and I went to all the procedure showed in this site
, but still my remote is not working I noticed that the doors started lock/unlock 4 times but in close position. I tried with two controls (KPU41846) with a new battery. Any idea what is wrong ?
