Mazda 3 (2007) headunit Media Button
Hey everyone!
Just decided to somehow integrate my iphone to the car stereo... There are many integration kits out there and kind of already choose one. However, when looking to the car stereo, I see the "Media" button, and was just wandering... For what use is it? I mean, I press it and it does nothing...
So... my question? What does the Media Button do? Why is it on the head unit ?
Much Appreciated,
Dan

My answers are on the assumption that you're in the US.
In '06 Mazda replaced the TAPE/MD button from the '04/'05 model with the MEDIA button. I'm not really sure why. Basically if you were to have something hooked into the port on the bottom of the HU (tape deck, mini disk player, Aux Mod) then pushing the MEDIA button would access it. That doesn't help you with iphone integration however.
Pretty much all of the actual integration modules are going to connect through the port on the back of the HU. This is the same port utilized by the OEM sirius satellite, and by the ACI on '07+ models.
What integration module are you going with? The most dependable ones tend to be the grom, audiolink, and the OEM one (OEM one will display info on the screen if you tap the CAN BUS wires)

Try hitting CD twice. Many of the input modules which connect through that port get recognized as external CD changers and you access them by pushing CD twice to get into EX mode.
I recently saw that cable but hadn't heard from anyone who's used it.
