Mazda 04 OEM spkr upgrades?
Looking for suggestions for spkr upgrades compatible w/factory am/fm 6-disc changer head unit. I evidently, (purchased the M3 HB apprx 3 months ago), have the 6-spkr system, ie - tweeter in front corner of doorsill, mid-woofer in lower front portion of door.
Is there a 2-way component set out there that can give me a worthwhile sound improvement w/o getting into adding amplification? Thanks, JeffD

Jeff >> I upgraded my factory speaker to Pioneer 3-way. The bass is better and high's are better and all in all I am much happier. The stockers will sound crappy after 20+ with the volume. With my new ones, I can Max out the volume with very little distortion. Pioneer also makes a 4 way. Remember the HU only puts out 15-20watts (stock speakers handle 25 watts max). Any after market speaker will handle more Watts. Mine (Pioneer 3-Way 50 watts per speaker). At low volumes the stockers seemed to hit bass more, this is only due to the fact that the aftermarkets can handle more.
To get them to hit harder they need either a new HU, aftermarkets put out more than stocker, or get an amp. You can search for replacement speakers @ Crutchfield.com. I picked mine up at Best Buy. $90 - 110 pr. or something close. Hope this helps.

Hunchback, Thanks for the reply. Are your Pioneers a pair of 3-way all-in-one spkrs , or are the tweets separate? Am hop[ng to find a recommended set of separate mid-bass w/separate tweeter component spkrs. I understand my choices,(if any), will be limited due to lack of power from the HU, but am hoping there are some high sensitivity sets out there
