I don't understand why they didn't put an LED light bar in the first place. The Protege MP3/MSPs have one, as do the P5s.

Why did they go backwards there?

By the way, it looks nice, but for that price, you can pretty much look for a spolier with LED lights, and just cover the 3rd brake light. That's what I'd do, just saying.

The 3 hatch now (as of the model refresh ala 2007) has an LED third brake light.

I also just didn't friggin get why they went backwards like that. I guess safety wasn't a concern so they just cut costs where possible eh?

The cost is my main concern, I don't want to spend that kind of money just to have it look nice but function terribly

I saw those from the xenon store, but if I went with those I would still try to clear out the lense, anyone got any sources on clear 3rd brake light lenses?

I have the factory spoiler so don't really want to go that route, but if I didn't have the factory one, that's what I'd rather do

this looks like a good solution for the 3:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MAZDA...spagenameZWDVW

it goes into the stock light though, so it wouldn't be clear.

yeah that's just like the one from the xenon store, but has more leds and can be upgraded to brighter leds, pretty sweet option

I saw these while looking on ebay and love them, but I don't want to get into wiring more things than I have to into the turn signals, i've had bad experiences with that on my Jeep

not into the turn signals, just the brake lights.

I wish there was stuff like this for my car :P everything has to be custom.. oh except that the stock brake light is LED

^^ Word.

Personally, I hate where the reflectors are on the Protege, right in the taillight looks weird. I like the mz3's bumper mounted reflectors much better.

be glad you don't have the reflectors built into the P5 taillights.. at least yours are a semi-normal shape o_O

Haha, thats true. The P5 ones try to contour the light and it just looks weird. If for no other reason, I like protege altezzas just because they move/change the reflector so they don't look as dorky.
