I installed the auto dim mirror with Homelink and compass into my 09 MS3 and successfully got it to work but don't like the fact that the garage door opener is always live. The car stays out and I don't want someone breaking into the car and then having access to my house.

There are 3 wires: a ground, a switched lead and a live lead. The switched lead is for the compass and auto dim feature. The live lead I assume is for the Homelink feature. I was wondering if the Homelink feature requires a constant on to retain the memory.

Thought I would ask if someone knows before I experiment.
