Thumbs down Fuel Economy

I do have a a 2004 Mazda and it fuel comsumtion is out of control!! It is giving me around 16 miles to a gallon. The EPA fuel comsumption report is for 24 miles city 29 miles highway. Any hints on what to do about it besides changing spark plugs and air filter?

You might want to check your wires too. Some other simple things, check your tire pressure and alignment sometimes if they are out of balance and such can cause your fuel consumption to be shoddy. Try running a fuel system cleaner through your car, and fill up once at Shell or Chevron, and avoid the discount gas. Not sure about anything else.
