Thats weak. The DSC works off of the ABS system and uses a control module that monitors a steering wheel, yaw rate and lateral accel senor to monitor vehicle activity. It shouldn't cost any more than $300.

I haven't been particularly impressed with the DSC on my 07, and I have tested it a little bit. If it was more sensative it'd be good, but I don't think it helps much unless you're really out of control.
My previous DSC esperience was with a Jag s-type and XJR, in both of those if you turn the wheel and aren't turning the DSC pulses the brakes and does a decent job of pointing the car. On the 3 i've tried this and it doesn't seem to attempt to steer the car... Though e-brake the rear and let it slide a little I heard the DSC come on trying to do something, but I didn't try to keep sliding and see how it helped. There hasn't been enough snow to really test it as often as i'd like.
The DSC option on this car was one of the big factors in me buying it, i'm happy with the car otherwise, but this one feature was a bit of a disappoiment.
