Unhappy Dumb noob question

I have an 02 mz3 S. No mods to engine but I'll like to get some boost. My question is if I get a kit do I have to change the ecu? Or ad an external one like the tripiont set or I can just use my factory ecu and have it tuned by a shop?

New to the Mazda crowd, so don't quote me, but should simply be able to tune. You'll likely want to have it professionally tuned on a dyno for best results, but never heard of a new/separate ECU being required...but I'm new to Mazdas so who knows lol
