Question Concerned about wide hips and seat wear

My boyfriend just bought a Mazda3 with the narrow seats and high bolsters. They fit him perfectly but they are too narrow for my wide hips and I end up sitting on the bolsters. I am concerned that I am going to wear the foam in the bolsters down over time and I would rather not do that. Had anyone tried adding a narrow cushion to rise a person with wide hips enough to not wear down the bolsters? Or is this just something we'll have to deal with?

Thanks!

Those seats are pretty infamous for being uncomfortable. Weird because the car that the 3 replaced, the Protege has great seats.
Anyway, maybe a "foamectomy" would work for you guys? If not your pad idea sounds pretty good. Check these out. Made for wheelchairs, but more than one 3 driver has bought one. The 1" think one seems to be what people buy.
Pilot? Cushion - Wheelchair Cushions - Home Medical Equipment Action Products - Pressure Relief - Operating Room, Home Medical Equipment - Pressure Ulcer Prevention

A lot of the Miata crew do this. The MX-5 seats are really narrow too. Just take some meat out of the bolsters.

Good luck!
