Clock losing time - 2006 Mazda 3.

The clock in my 2006 Mazda 3 sport gt has lost time twice in 1 month. Once I set the right time it seems to work fine for a few weeks. Our 1993 Mazda MPV never lost time and we have it for 12 years now. Any ideas?
I haven't bothered to take it to the dealer as yet. I will wait till the 8,000kM service is due and will take it in then.
Thanks.
Marty

Maybe you're driving so fast you're warping the space-time continuum.
How much time are you losing? My Pro loses about a minute every month or so.

My Mazda is the same way. 06 3i I bought 2 months ago has lost time 3 times in 2 months, usually 30-45 at a time. I dont know what the deal is.

Sounds like possible a loose ground or power connection in the radio unit. basicly dissconects the power for 30-45 min and cust the time down. Do you also loose you preset radio stations?

I have lost 5 - 15 mins twice since I bought the car Oct 29/2005. Once I reset the time it works fine till it slows down again. I am not sure if the power to the clock cuts off - digital clocks would flash 12-12 or 0-0 once the power is restored, wouldn't it?
The radio presets work fine.
Regards.

Doesn't sound like thats the prob. It was a long shot anyway. I haven't noticed my clock loosing time. Of course it is still on daylight savings time still haven't looked how to set the clock.

oh well good luck

Is the clock built into the radio? Many quartz clocks have a trimmer, and can be adjusted for timekeeping.

Folks,
It has been almost 2 weeks since the last incident and the clock is keeping its time. Maybe it was just a temporary problem that is now gone, I hope. The clock is part of a message center that also displays outside temps and radio station #s. The dealer has never heard of this problem before.
Thanks for all your inputs and suggestions.
Seasons Greetings.

Question time loss

Marty, I just bought my M3 in November and I find that its losing time also from about 3-5 minutes. I've had to reset the clock twice. I'll ask my dealer what is wrong and report back.

I guess my time is up. Pardon the pun.

My clock, just yesturday, dropped about 5 min. and did it again this morning. I think we all need to make a call to the dealership.

I have 1000 miles on my 3 and am having the same issues with the clock. In discussing it last night with a friend, the only other reasoning behind it besides being a defect is that maybe it has something to do with me using the INFO button a lot. I press on it pretty regurlarly to check the mileage, etc. Maybe that has something to do with it? Just a thought. This is the second time in a month that this has happened.

Lets complane to the manufacturer. I haven't noticed that on mine but I'll check on it. I'll ask a friend of mine if he have noticed it on his. Will let you know

My '06 lost 30 min exactly this week. It has 1.4k miles on it since I bought it last month. I guess I'll ask the dealer, but the service dept didn't seem to impress me much that last time I talked to them.
