Car won't start, Electrical?

I have a mazda 3 2004 and I have a remote start in my car. I do not know if this problem is associated w/or is caused by the remote. It did work before when the remote was installed.

The car does not start when it is cold. It is due to the key somehow, but I have tried two different keys and get the same result. The car was taken to a mechanic and he had stated it has to do w/the immobilizer. He also said it threw error/code 13 from (i'm assuming from obdII from the ECU).

The remote start doesn't work nor does trying to start the car w/the actual key. The car will start if it is warm outside. At least this is how it has always appeared.

Any ideas on what could be wrong or something else to look for on a trouble shoot for this? Thanks, I appreciate any help.

It could be several things. First, have the immobilizer bypass for your remote start disconnected and see how things go. It may be that for some reason, the remote start's bypass and the key's transponder are being read at the same time and it will cause it not to start. Have the installer also check his connections to be sure nothing's cut too far on the transponder wires.

The transponder wires run from the black plastic ring around the key cylinder, under the column to the other side...a little group of 4 wires. The bypass should be tied into those wires. Check those connections. then find the bypass box and unplug it from power. Try it like that for a few days and see what happens. 1 question, when the car doesn't start, does the little indicator light on the dash flash rapidly? It's the one that looks like a car with a key. If it does, then it's definitely transponder. If not, then it's something else. So check that first.

Factory or aftermarket?

Is the remote start system a Mazda supplied system or a generic unit?

If it's a factory (accessory) unit have you tried to reprogram the unit? The tach siginal may have been compromised and the system may need to be reset.

When you say it dosn't start is the engine turning over?
