Bought an 07 speed3

Hi. This is the third post...

Traded the focus for a speed3. Been wanting a speed3 for some time now and I'm super happy that I got one (used). It's a grand touring, but the guys at the kia/mitsubishi dealer thought it was the sport

$16,500 with 38,000 miles...

ad for the car

Car is completely awesome so far. Only had it two days!!!

The smilies are awesome on here!

Nice, how did you manage to pull that over on them?

My two stock suggestions for new owners are to A) pick up a third key.... this assumes that they gave you two when you bought the car. The reason to buy a third is because as long as you have two keys you can program in more yourself for free in about 15 seconds. If you only have one key then Mazda must program additional keys and they'll charge you for the service time. So if you buy a third key now (~$23) then even if you lose a key in the future you'll only have to just buy another key and program it and never have to involve the dealer. If they only gave you one key then you're sort of stuck. lol and B) replace/augment/upgrade the stock whimpy clown horn.

Welcome to the Mazda 3 family. I have had my Speed for a little over a year now. I love it. I am sure you will have fun. Mazda puts the fun in driving.

I didn't pull anything over them, they did it to themselves... Guess they didn't look in glove at all. The person that owned the car before me left ALL the paperwork in there... which brings me to a question...

What should I do with all of it? It has a guys name and address and (think the son of) womans name and address...

I'm not a criminal, so I'm not going to try to do anything with it. But should I call them and ask them what they want me to do with it? Or should I just shread it so they won't worry about it.

I only got one key. The dealership said that he knew the guy that traded the car in and the previous owner "couldn't find the other key". So I want to call for that reason too...

Mazda quoted me at about $210 for one key + key fob. Don't think that includes labor...

WHAT TO DO?????

Assuming the paperwork has the history of the car (i.e. maintenance records) I say keep it. That way you have records of what was done should something go sideways or if you plan to sell the car down the road. IMHO

The key will cost you about $23 from onlinemazdaparts.com, and will need to be programmed by the dealer..... plan on $50-75 for that as it's a ~45 minute process.

The remote will cost you $120 and can be programmed by you for free. You can also occasionally find them on ebay for way less, just make sure the visteon number matches your current one as many ebay sellers advertise remotes that work with every year and model.
