Usable tire sizes for 3 on stock rims

I live in West Michigan and we get snow, sloppy wet snow. The stock Goodyear tires suck so I want something better for winter that aren't snow tires, so all season.

I know the stock tires are 205/50 R17 but what other sizes will fit without problems?

Discount Tire says the 215/50 R17 and 215/55 R17 will fit without problems. That true?

For tires I was looking at the Yokohama AVID TRZ and the Kumho ECSTA ASX. The Cooper Lifeliner SLE H/V also look good.

Any advice?

Yes that's true.
Taller and skinnier is better in snow but worse for handling.

I'd like to know how wide I can go on stock rims. I have 225 on the rear, and 205 up front. But I would love to go 235 at all 4 corners. This possible on stock rims?

Wait a minute. Why the f**k do you have bigger tires on the rear? You have a FWD car dude (that is if you have a 3)!

I bought my car used. That is how it came from the dealership. I would like to have equal sized tires (as wide as I can go on stock rims) all around, hence my original post. 80)

Put 225 all around, I doubt 235 fits.
Check that out though, tirerack.com might be able to tell you. The stock rim width is 6.5".

So... I should upgrade rims if I want to go that wide huh? I wonder if they'll fit on the RX-8's 18 inchers and fit on the car?

Rx8 18" rims fit, alot of 3's have them on. I'm not sure about getting a 235 on them. If you do, you will have to get a really low profile so you don't rub.
