If the squeaking is coming from the rear then I highly doubt it's the fuel pump. It wouldn't squeak, and it wouldn't come from the back. I would say the squeaking is a suspension part of some sort that's just starting to wear out a bit.

As far as the check engine light goes, you'll probably wanna get the code off the ECU by hooking up to an OBDII scanner. The dealership can get you the code and tell you what's causing the light to come on, or you can take it to Auto Zone for FREE and get the same result. If you just want the light off, then disconnect the negative battery terminal and pump the brake 10 times. Reconnect the battery and the light will be off .. but if you don't fix the problem then it's likely to come right back on within the first 60 miles so you really wanna get that code pulled so you know what needs fixing/cleaning/replacing or whatever.

And lastly, welcome to the club matey! Enjoy your stay..

If the "Squeak" is coming from the outside it is just the rubber surrounding the springs in your suspension a little grease should fix the problem. If it is coming from the inside it is probably the plastic trunk cover. As for the engine light "KraysieFox" is correct about having the code checked. I had the same problem. Come to find out I didn't tighten the gas cap enough after refueling and loss of gas pressure caused the light to come on. Hope this helps!

Smile Check Engine light

I just took my 2004 Mazda 3 to the dealership the other day cause my check engine light came on and they said there is a service bulletin on it and they will replace it for free. Said something about air getting into the tank and making the check engine light come on. They also replaced some stuff that had to do with my emissions and engine which was all covered by the service bulletins so I woul recommend you take and have them replace that stuff for you. Hope this helps!
