Exclamation Key stuck in ignition. How to get out.

Hey guy I got in my mazda3 07, probably best car ever. I sat down and immediately spilled coke zero all over my center cup holder, shifter ****, etc. I cleaned up what I could then went to my house. I parked and then my keys were stuck. Did some R/D and found out that my shifter is probably not making the connection to the key detector thing. DAMN. I tried a lot of stuff even this crazy *** video where a dude jams his steering column up and down. WHAT!!! So then I found out that if you pull the hazard light fuse out it will work. Looked for the hazard thing couldn't find it initially but then realized that was probably because it was under another cover and had tons of copper wires running to it. yeah right that's not the right one. So I took and educated guess as to which fuse controlled the locking of my keys in the ignition. ROOM 15A . Pull that out and you are home free. Now hopefully it dries out tonight and will make a connection tomorrow!! haha

TL;DR PULL THE ROOM 15A FUSE OUT https://www.mazda3club.com/images/smilies/shooter.gif

It is possible the drink got into the switch, in which case that has to be cleaned. Though i'm not 100% sure the park switch is in the center console, it could be mounted on the transmission.

It's extremely easy to take the whole center console apart and clean it. Easy like, no tools required. Took mine apart to dip the shifter plate (i have an auto ) and was very surprised how easy it was.

If you have a manual, I'd imagine it's a similar process. Good luck to you. (didn't mean to bump old post)
