Exhaust Help?
So I got the mazdaspeed exhaust from mazda almost a year ago and a couple months ago i started getting the most annoying rattling noise. i checked it out and the the internals to my muffler went bad (broken baffle to be exact). so brought it to mazda to see if i could get it warrantied but the first and second time they "could figure it out" now i brought it in the third time showed their tech and sure enough he said its bad. service went about the paper work. I was out of warranty. 1000 miles over. so now i'm stuck with this annoying thing. mazda said they only sell the whole system and i don't want to pay 600 for a whole new one when i only need a muffler. Any ideas on what o do? or possible an exhaust i could take off you?

if you can locate the broken location, drill a hole in and weld it back in place... find someone with a welder and you should be all set. Replacing the muffler looks like a pain, since it's one piece from the cat to the muffler that runs above the rear subframe... meaning you have to drop the rear and re-align the car afterwards.
Putting a hole in the muffler and welding it back shut is probably the easiest solution - if you have someone with a welder.
