Homebrew Traction Treatment

Does anyone know of a homebrew formula to make tire traction treatment? I currently use Formula V, but at $35/gal, it's like gold. The Formula V has a familiar smell, but I can't quite put my finger on it (maybe it's just because it's a petrolium dist. or maybe I've just been inhaling too much ).

Off to apply coat #2 for this weekend....

Yeah- my little brother used to race karts and had a "special blend". I don't remember exactly what it was but it did include diesel fuel- and some other stuff. I bet if you searched online you could find something online.
I think you should only use it on old, or seriously heat cycled tires.
