Hope it competes well with the new Altima 3.5V6. That car is pretty darn fast!

I would luv to have that car. OOOOH Maybe I will!! (:

Just like you said, I really hope they make a big V6 for it to keep up with the 3.5 Altima. At least the 2.5 Altima. I think they will. I'm really hoping for it.

I want it!! I want it!! I want it!! I want it!! I want it!! I want it!! I want it!! I want it!! I want it!!I want itI want itI want it!!!! !!

Thumbs up Awesome Car

<Sigh> The Mazda6 indeed is awesome looking. Really wish there was a way I could afford one, but I'm just not sure about that. I figure I'll have to wait a year to save up a little more money, and also allow for a definitive reliability record for this new model to be established. Despite what Mazda claims, you really have to wait and see how things perform in the real world before saying outright, "This is a great car". I'm confident that it really will be reliable, but we'll have to wait and see for sure.

Beyond that issue, two primary things are of concern to me: That single piece stereo unit (which will make for difficult, if not impossible after market upgrades), and the possibility that elements of the interior are cheap. I read that preview article in AutoWeek about the 6, and they said elements of the interior feel cheap. That sucks. In a car that costs that much more than the Protege, I'd expect its interior components to be of equal, or even better, quality than the Pro (and I think the Protege's interior components have an excellent quality feel).

In any event, I totally can't wait until we have the chance to actually see a new 6, live. I intend to examine it thoroughly and see if she's all that she's hyped up to be! So far it really looks like an awesome car!

That's funny. The Car and Driver preview drive noted the dashboard looks and feels like it came straight out of a BMW.

Well, I don't know about a big V6... But, the uplevel engine is a 3.0L DOHC V6 with Sequential Valve Timing (S-VT) and 219hp. Also, look for a Mazdaspeed version of the hatchback about a year after release.

Not only that my friend, but also a 2.3L 16V I4 conversion

Hopefully, this will fit.

Why do that when you can buy the 2004 Mazda 3? This Protege-replacement will have sleek styling like the 6 and will include the 2.3L as the optional engine...

2.3L

You have a point. I'll wait till 2005ish when I pray that I can sell my 2001 Pro and get a hopefully S Charged or T Charged 2.3L Mazda 3 (Yeah, Right.)
