I'm gonna admit it. When I first saw the protege 5 I thought it was a horrificly designed 30 year old guy car who likes canoeing and has an ugly wife, but it's not too bad at all. After looking at the volkswagon hatchback-the Protege 5 looks like butter. Keep it real!

I have to agree but a little differently. I've liked the 3rd gen Protege since it came out. I never really thought the P5 was "a horrificly designed 30 year old guy car who likes canoeing and has an ugly wife." Already having one pretty nice car (hers)I decided the next one would need to be under $20K.

About the only two cars I liked were Protege/Protege5's and Ford Focus ZX3. But since she said she wouldn't be seen in a Focus hatch and she loved the interiors of the Proteges, looks like that's what I'm getting. I never even test drove the Ford.

And I know a Protege will be a better car to have for the long haul.

Thumbs up

I agree, I like the P5 from the start. I knew I had to have one. And I'm a 40 year old guy with a hot
wife, but I do enjoy canoeing.

Any pics?

Okay of your P5 not your wife . Okay maybe your wife too so we can judge if she is hot. We all think our P5s are hot but I don't think we can compare them to our wives .

As with most of the other P5 owners I loved it from the first time I saw it. It looks like something new. Compared to all the cars that were on the market for the last 10 years or so this one was different. Don't know about you guys but there was a time there that I could not tell a Ford from a Chevy from a Dodge. I know aerodynamics are aerodynamics but gosh darn it, did all of the designers go to the same school?

Also, it probably did not hurt that I also have an 88 Mazda 323 and it is still going strong. Mazda rules!!!

Hmmm!!!!, not sure how we 30+ year old guys should take this. It'll come fast enough their Marky then you'll change you mind on that *lol*.

As for the car itself, when I first saw it, it really didn't catch my eye, but as time went on and the more of them I saw I decided to check it out. Well being a guy in his 30's and having yes a wife and a child, my Civic SIR just couldn't handle the growing load. The P5 does it in spades and has style. So perhaps you're right, it is a over 30's guy car. So I'll guess you'll have to suffer till you get that old *lol*.

I was driving one within two weeks of seeing the first "zoom-zoom" commercial with the yellow P5 and that annoying little kid.

Needless o say - I knew the first time I saw it that this car was definitely for me.
