Mazdasport Magazine : Proteges Underrepresented
#17
Okay.... so Matty's car is a good candidate. Who else? Phantom Cruiser's car looks great, and it already has received some recognition at shows, etc. Then there are the folks who have all the autocross goodies on their rides. Then there is the guy who built up the 1.6L SC car. Folks, there are many, many people on this forum with newsworthy rides. Heck, with the thousands of members that we've got, we are a newsworthy club in our own right! Anyone who attended the meet in February given any thought to throwing some pics and a brief write up of that towards Mazdasport?

i haven't taken it on any auto-x events yet since the suspension is mostly stock and the shitty dunlops dont grab for anything....
I have some mazdaspeed suspension pieces showing up this week (new struts) and I'm ordering the Tein S-techs for both the p5 and the rx7 so I'll have a full spring/strut upgrade on the p5....should be a noticeable difference.

I may get some finalized pictures in the next month or so and do a small write up to see what they say about it.

hahaha....miatas get a LOT more respect than proteges....I think if anything we'd have to nominate or choose select proteges to represent the collective populous...
I saw "Matthew" ot his p5 featured on Mazdausa.com but he looked/sounded like the biggest ricer tool in the world. The even mentioned "F&F".....if anyone ever compares my car to anything fast and furious I'll be heavily upset.

and if you are gonna get a group of proteges to send out, do stuff like send rods, a turbocharged one, heavily moded exterior/interior, high output stereo. send them an array of different catagorys of mods and models of the 3rd gen protege..

Okay, here is my latest proposal.
Lets get a lot of people to write in with their mods and pics of their cars, if for no other reason than to show these guys that there is a vibrant Protege community out there. I will send in pics and a description of mine. I admit, my car is a little lighter on the mods than some, but I am proud of it, and it could at least make letters section. A lot of times, I have noticed that the "Readers Rides" in SCC or other magazines are not half as cool as my car.
Those of you with more originality in your rides (i.e. Matty) could hope for a lot more than a brief mention. It's a great way to plug our forum, too. We are always complaining that there are not enough actively contributing members...

true, I think Shoguyn is right. We should do a small write up on a few different cars....a msp, p5, sedan, mp3, big engine car, big stereo car, big "bling" car, big grip car, etc.....this would show them the amount of customization you can have with everything. No matter your into the Protege has something for you.
