Mazdasport Magazine : Proteges Underrepresented

Hey, folks -

I don't know how many of you out there read Mazdasport magazine. You can get this bimonthly magazine at Barnes and Nobles, and it is chock full of RX-8, Miata, Mazda6, and other Mazda goodness. In the latest issue, a reader sent in a letter specifying that Proteges are vastly underrepresented in the magazine. The editor responded that they have a tough time getting a hold of good Protege stories.

I don't know about you, but I think we have a ton of ink worthy stuff right here on this forum. Matty's SC P5 and Phantom Cruiser's gorgeous 'nanner come to mind.

Any of you want to act on this?

I thought about doing a nice photoshoot on my car but I don't have any of the bling that is associated with amgazine articles (I've been told by several people).

"just slapping a blower on a car doesn't make it stand out".....was told to me by my local World of Wheels judge...

I may get some finalized pictures in the next month or so and do a small write up to see what they say about it.

Your local World of Wheels judge is an idiot. Slapping a blower on a car makes it stand out a hell of a lot more than a gigantic aluminum rear wing does, to those of us who actually know what goes on under the hood of a car.

I have also read plenty of stories on sleepers in the import magazines.... including articles in SCC which offer advice on taking the "bling" away!

I say go for it... it's not the long shot you think it is; your car has street cred. BTW, from the pics I have seen, it looks good too.

yeah, I really like the sleeper aspect of my car. It makes for some interesting encounters like that kid in the S2K who thought he'd walk off an leave me....didn't happen.

I will be getting some more "bling" in the next few months along with more power. I'm just so strapped for cahs right now I've not had any excess to put into my my p5.

Yeah I agree you should really consider sending in some pics and a write-up considering you have the only p5 SC out there and you made (with help) yourself that should be magizine worthy for sure....

Does sipping a can of V8 and getting my daily requirement of every nutrient known to man whilst driving my Protege make me special?

I'm with juddz. From what I saw in the latest issue of Mazdasport, they cover a variety of mods. They had a Miata SC install how-to, without anything else done to the car. You should go for it. Worst they can do is say no, right?
