Mazdaspeed Turbo Protege

Here is a link for the upcoming 2003 Mazdaspeed Turbo Protege. It will be limited to 2,000 units for the US and Canada. Looks nice, wonder what the price will be??

Nice. I'm liking the Turbo and LSD. But to be honest I hate that color.

SHWEEEEEEET- Turbo intercooled and LSD . Mazda has truly come thru this time. I think they need to up the boost a little maybe like 12PSI . I know if i get one the first thing i will purchase is an electronic boost control and better injectors then that bitch would really rip. I believe its only boosting like 5 PSI, that sucks. I would still buy one with the quickness though. Good job mazda its about damn time.

And then some. If you think of the cost of upgrading a stereo and adding a turbo, plus you get the warrenty for 3 years. That is worth a trade in (like my MP5) and a couple extra bux on top.

oh please, someone find the answer to reefruner's question!! I can afford the car, but not the insurance. Adding those mods to my pro5 would be the next best thing

I agree, I like the look of my Protege5 but I won't mind adding a turbo and some mazdaspeed part. Just hope they make these parts available SOON!!!

Red face

Whatever, but since you guys know some much about the engines, is the new Speed Protege engine change internally from the MP3 and Pro5?

I prefer the looks of the Pro5 but definitely would love to upgrade to the turbo. eace:

In the end isnt this car just basically SOUPED up ES 2002 2.0 protege ,

Could you do all this stuff your self in the aftermarket?

Couldnt you buy the 2.0 protege Es sedan then buy a turbo kit from mazda speed.

Insurance would be cheaper , And it would be more fun to upgrade and customize the car to your liking?

it is just a souped up ES...but u have to figure..mazda had to do some internal upgrades to withstand the boost so u could just put part on your car from mazdaspeed but your engine might not be as strong internally...turbo's cause a lot of stress on cars engines

Only internals they changed were the driveshafts [24mm as opposed to 22mm], and a performance disc and pressure plate. That's it. And that's all that's necessary as they are only running it at 5 PSI.

Put a boost controller and forged internals in there, run it at 15PSI and that would be nice.
