In the most recent quality report by JD powers, Mazda ranks second from the bottom with 149 problems per 100 vehicles. The only lower company was Suzuki with 151 per 100. Close competitors Toyota ranked high with 105, Honda with 112, and Nissan came in the middle at 120. The industry average was 118.

Hmmm, I wonder if they were ranked higher a few years ago, since the 3, the 6 and the RX-8 are all pretty much completely new models.

Keep in mind this has much to do with new model releases, as there are almost always problems with new models being released. These numbers were much higher when the Protege and 626 were in the lineup

I just compared these: 2001 Protege 2001 Corolla 2001 Focus 2001 Civic Sedan ....In long term, the only car which ranked higher than the pro was the carolla which got 5 points in all long term catagories....(I did 2001's for results in long term tests and because I have an MP3 which is an 01)

when I bought my 99 sedan, the protege was the highest in it's class for safety, features, and a bunch of other stuff. Plus, CarNDriver did a glowing right up.
