Engine Related Questions for The Protege 2.0/MP5
I have a couple of questions for the Guru's here. I read the FAQ and it answer some, but not all my questions. He are some that were not answered.
A) What kind of internals do the 2.0litre engines have?
B) How hot does the motor run? Do i need to run both stock fans?
C) Do they make aftermarket rads for the 2.0litre engines?
D) Is it possible to advance or retard the timing on the car?
I'm asking all these questions because i'm considering buying the BEGI Turbo Kit.
TIA.

A. Not forged
B. Not sure 200-210F?
C. I think you can get a radiator from Mazdaspeed and Tripoint.
D. No way that I know w/out an ECU change, re-program, etc..J&S knock sensor retards each cyl individually if it detects knock.
What are your specific concern's?
With no knowledge of any of the above questions the BEGI(FM Protege) kit would work fine. Unless you want to push the boost...

Adding a turbo system and a stand alone system is two things that will required some debugging. Alot less risky if you handle the standalone first, before adding boost to your debugging problems.
Just my recommendation. . .
If all you want is a low boost turbo system, then don't spend the money on SAEMU, but is you ultimately plan to push things get the SAEMU first

Also, as Braden has shown with a stock motor, you can increase power as much as ~10whp with just the full stand alone.

There is one that I know of.......SDSEFI(SimpleDigitalSystems) they are made in Canada. Check out SDSEFI.com........Several of my friends are running these on their VDubs.......Most of their cars are 12sec cars. LCD controller and everything. No laptop needed.

Flyin' Miata is currently working out the issues with the stock Protege ECU and those encountered with the MP3 ECU.
They should have a pretty good solution soon. They have one solution already that works for six psi.
