I think it was Ric, from Racing Mazda got 399whp out of a stock-bottom-end BP with one of his turbo systems.

I see people w/ the pre-99 BPs running 12-15psi quite often - WITH proper Fuel, Spark, and Timing control.

I asked this same question a while ago. I never actually got a boost number, but thats what Jesse told me, 399 WHP
So thats what maybe 420-430 Flywheel??

almost everyone i talk to here (in NZ) with a gtx has or is running as much boost as they can before they get boost cut.

that tends to be 13-15psi. not so good for the turbo i know, but it seems to be fine for the car.

of course i don't know how many of those still have an engine but from the sheer amount of people doing it, i'd say it was okay.

Good engine + shitty tuning = you're screwed
Good engine + good tuning = lotsa power, reliability
the gtx ecu has a fuel cut at around 12 psi but it can be bypased.im runing a bpt with t3 turbo on it and boosting 18 psi all the times for past 25k miles and it holds up.

It doesn't say whether or not he changed his internals or not. I would say he probably did, but who knows.

The turbo on his car was a Warner/Ishi custom GIANT turbo that was bolted to a GT-R manifold. Adam was going to put it on his EGT until he found a full GT-R turbo and he sold the hybrid from Dave's mx-3.

The stock BPT engine could handle about 18psi of boost with the appropiate fuel. But I wold recomend to you to change the head for a normally DOHC because the intake and exhaust runners on the BPT engine are smaller than the normally aspirated DOHC, Also if you could find some rods from a 1.8L DOHC kia sephia engine change them they are more heavy.

I have a protege with a stock kia engine 9.8 to 1 in compression running up to 18psi of boost with the BPO9 ecu from the lx protege Rx7 550cc injectors and flowmeter, and have no problem I use the car daily to go to work. Remember you are not always running on boost that all depends on your hammer foot.
