Corksports Turbo Kit

Whats this junk about Corksports Turbo for the 2.0L 3rd gens?

I have heard all kinds of stuff about it being reasonably priced, yet I have heard that it will not have an intercooler. Anyone know anything about it. Damn it! I Just want someone to build a Turbo Kit, possibly a Twin Turbo setup For a MP5 that gives me 400 HP at the wheels, is easy on the clutch, is easy to modulate the power(so I dont need a LSD) and is under $100 with all the needed piping and misc parts.

If someone could please make one with those specs I will be forever in debt

WTF???

Indeed it was a joke men.

I am just a little depressed. I have some money saved up to invest in a full turbo kit, however I can't seem to find a "kit". The nice man at Knight engineering told me that he makes a kit that "should" fit. I told him to send me everything I need and I "should" send him his $3500

Anway some guys were talking about Corksport making one this summer. I did not know if anyone knew anything about it

Jesse, most people have a budget to deal with. Doing something like that on your own requires some trial and error, which translates to added expense. I'd rather buy a kit that includes some sort of discounted price for getting everything in one bulk buy.

I spoke with the people at Corksports this last week. The info they were willing to give me over the phone was this:

There are 2 kits planned. The first one out will be a low boost set up without an intercooler. 5-6 psi approximately 145-150 wheel horsepower. The system will include an FMU but will probably not include any injectors or fuel pump since the stock stuff will support this with an FMU richening things up a bit under boost. It will probably be comparable to an Eaton supercharger system in price due to the simplicity. They won't quote prices yet and don't have a release date yet although they did say they are shooting for early summer. I was told to call back in 2 months and they would have a date or at least be able to tighten up the window better.

The second kit will be released a couple months after the first one near as they can tell. Plans for this one are 11-12 psi, intercooled, and new higher capacity injectors. They aren't sure if they will use an FMU or a completely reprogrammed ECU with different spark and fuel maps. It should be around 220-230 wheel horsepower. This is about as much as the stock rods will take from what I've been able to find out from them and others. Plan on this one being similar to what GReddy is doing for Hondas and Acuras. Guesstimate for price was $3500-$4000 but that's all they'll say.

The good news is that they are for sure in development right now. For obvious reasons they don't want to get too specific about the parts they will be using. My suggestion would be to keep in touch with them to keep the pressure on for a delivery date. I'll be checking back with them around the end of April.

Thanks Traveler

yeah I am sort of budgeted on time and money. Hopefully by July I can swing 3 or 4 for a turbo. I need the car to get me to work almost every day, so I can't tie up to much time trial and erroring with my own setup. hopefully the system will be available soon

Thanks guys
