If it's a good kit, just change your oil & filter every 3K miles and allow the warm up/cool down periods you mentioned. If it's not a good kit, you'll have to worry about troubleshooting/tuning more than you will about maintenance.

I am still running the complete stock exhaust until we complete the custom one. Going Random high flow cat w/ 2 1/2 inch (maybe 3) stainless all the way back. The stock system generates more back pressure than I like, which turbos hate.

Yes, manufacturers have been recommending oil changes at 5000 mile intervals lately. The whole change your oil every 3000 is a load of crap instigated by oil companies and Jiffy Lube. Just imagine, every 3k instead of every 5k? Thats almost twice as much oil changing$$$!!! Im running Mobil1 0W-30 in my engine with a Mobil1 oil filter I had to order online because the only brand parts stores out here have are FRAM. Oh, or Pennzoil filters which are just repackaged FRAMs. Actually, probably the best things we can get over here are K&N Oil filters, but we have to order them for our cars. Anyways I was wondering if irridium spark plugs are worth the $9 each cost... I need to research them and see if they are better.

Well, checked it out at NGK and they have a real good tech bit on spark plugs and racing application plugs and what not. I am posting a link to the tech tips page where they tell you how to choose the right plugs for the right application, and it tells you why you do so. Very good information.

I finally heard back from Corky. He's pretty sure the kit should fit with maybe only minor modifications. He invited me to bring my car to San Antonio to verfiy the fit, and offered a discounted price for being the prototype car. I'm in Chicago though, so that would be difficult. Does anyone else with a '99-'00 1.8L live near San Antonio that would be interested?

Yeah, that and he didn't mention a time frame for how long he would need the car. It's still very tempting, but I have to figure out how to squeeze $3K past the wife without suffering serious consequences.

Yeah, that and he didn't mention a time frame for how long he would need the car.
I was with out my car for about 8 weeks, but it was the prototype. Dont worry your car would be back sooner.

i got the first video - the "driving normally" one.

if you'd like to email me the other 3 (one at a time), i will put them on my server which has no bandwidth restrictions and you can link them from there??!?!!?
