1st gen turbo w/ stock injectors
Hello everyone, new to the board. I have a '93 escort GT I recieved from my sister once she bought a new camry. It was in sorry shape, it had jumped time and ran horrible. Put on a new timing belt and runs great. less than 10% leakdown across the board good compression numbers its a good runner. I put on a pacesetter header since the stock pipe was split, leaking horribly, and a RX-7 VAF made a little improvement up to redline.
On to the question. I have an '89 MX-6 turbo completely built up, which means I have all the old stuff from it laying around, VJ-11 turbo, stock 320cc injectors, stock fuel pump, stock intercooler and piping. It seems that with the corksport turbo manifold I have an easy turbo project. I am wondering if the stock injectors could handle fuel for 9psi of boost. Of course I will have a FPR on there with the larger fuel pump, possible a 5th injector. I really don't want to have to buy a S-AFC and use the larger injectors. The MSD BTM is the only expense I would want if I were to turbo the 'cort. The vj-11 is smaller than the GTX and R turbos that are normally used on the BP, but I feel it would do the trick as it make 170whp and 278wtq on my mazda back when it was near stock. Just wanted some opinions

HP is normal flywheel horsepower in most cases, what the engine produces at the flywheel before drivetrain losses.

With n2o the little mazda made 356 ft lbs of torque to the wheels! The 2.2 is a stroker motor so it doesnt like to rev but it makes v8 like torque.

with those numbers and the stock turbo there were very few mods. I had a drop in KN filter, superchip (to eliminate 12psi boost cut), MSD 6A and blaster 2, 15psi of boost, and a HKS cat back 2.5 inch exhaust. best 1/4 mile on that setup was 14.415@97.88. The N2O was a zex kit jetted at 55, with a 5th injector I rigged up to sort of make it a "wet" setup. Never ran the N2O at the track since it wasn't nhra legal setup, but I routinly pulled on high 12 sec 'stangs at the street events.

well lets see.....never ran it at the track with n20 as I said. However the dyno results were 232 wheel horsepower and 356 wheel torque, my car weighs 2750 with me in it. And I pulled on high 12 second cars. you do the math

well as I said I never ran it at the track so any et increase is unknown. Of course racing on the street is quite different than the track, no n2o I trapped near 98mph, which is enough power to net 13's had I been on slicks instead of all season radials. at the track most RWD cars in the 14.4's were trapping at or near 96 mph. on the street while we had identical times i would say the car with the higher trap speed would pull on the other car since the launch isnt usually as good. FYI I dynoed everything, the n2o added 62.3 horsepower to the wheels, and 80.9 ft lbs of torque to the wheels. That was with a 55hp jet and a fifth injector for more fuel. Turbo's really appreciate colder air and the n2o cools it good

I'll vouch for those numbers too!!! My previous car was an 89 Probe GT (same drivetrain as MX6).
I had the T-Bird Turbo, hardpipes, and 440's with a custom chip from PFI (much more little stuff but thats the main power stuff). My lil' probe managed 214whp with 291.3ft/lbs. The F2 is a tourque monster but has some problems past around 5500 rpm due to a poor head design and a restrictive intake mani, still a very fun car though. Sold it to get the BP, very stong and loves to rev!!! Cant wait till project is done.....
Anyway..... I doubt the stock fuel system would be good for a safe 9psi, but a 5th is a good idea. The VJ11should be able to get you some decent power... and, as you well know MXTurbo, the VJ11 spools really FAST!! Also... you'll want a better fuel pump probably.
Sorry if am just babbling but I get very excited when the subject of Probes/MX's come up!!!
