I never did buy this piece. Im just not 100% about it. I can think of better things to spend $140.00 on than a problematic piece.

The spoiler is actually made for the sedan. Some BMWs and upper-class cars have these types of spoilers on their cars.

I thought a company called CrossOver....... something had the spoiler for sale. Can't member the whole name but they list it on their site for 140 or 150.00 or something.

*Edit* The website is Crossoversuto.com . Once you get there, click on Mazda over on the left hand side and then click on 2001-2003 Protege (All) Exterior. Then about 3/4ths of the way down under the Wings West section, the spoiler is for sale for 150.00. I think I might buy to try it out. If I don't get it, Im going to second-guess myself forever till we get some feedback about it. Ill be the guinea pig.

This is what i was told, the wing that you want it easy to install and i had a chance to see it in real life instead of posted pics and it does not look as bad as i thought , but i would pay ~$150 for it maybe 100 or 90. anywaythe wings is just held down by plain old double sided tape.

Yeah, I knew the piece was held down by double-sided tape. Ive heard that the tape isn't strong enough to keep the spoiler held down to the glass. How did the guy/girl have the piece on the car when you saw it in person? Did they mention any problems with it at all?

I got another e-mail from Crossoverauto.com and they told me the price of the piece went up from 150.00 to 183.00 plus shipping, which costs about 40.00. Once payment is received, they send the order to Wings West/Fiber Images and they produce the piece and ship it to the person directly.

Oh ok thats more of a realistic price, but as for the stability of the tape, the guy said that he was worried at first that it would fall off at high speeds but has yet to fall off also you can buy stronger double sided tape (the guy used the one that it came with). But you also gotta think, a wing that goes on the trunk has to have holes drilled in it, and you might have it angeled wrong and you would be screwed, and your still not even garenteed that the screws are in tight or somethin like that, if you really wanted a wing then i say go for the roof wing 100%.

Would it make sense then to have both the upper window spoiler as well as the trunk lid spoiler?

to install the window spolier, go out and get some 3m double side tape and retape the spolier and install it in the shade or a garage so that the window isn't hot because then the tape wont stick right and set. if you want some extra bonding try 3m's adhesion promoter.
