What kind of speakers for 92 LX??

Hi Everyone,

I've been trying to fit three different 6.5 speakers( Sony Xplod, Sony ES and Polk EX365) for both rear and front locations but none of them work!! It seems that 6.5 is kinda small for the factory cutting and 6 3/4 will do the job instead. The factory holes seem to be triangular in placement and none of my existing speakers have them.

1) What kind of speakers have you guys installed for your car?? If so, can you provide the make and model no.??

2) Any other innovative idea to put speakers in the car??

Need quality music while driving ASAP!! HELP!!!

I have infiniti reference 5 1/4's in the front doors and infiniti reference 6 1/2's in the rear and I like the sound a lot. Good highs, mids, and bass.

I have a 90 LX and have recently installed Pioneer 6.5 speakers in the front and back.
All I did was drill some holes where the speaker needed them, I then had to grind out some of the metal by the holes I drilled because the door hole wasn't big enoughand then put the tinnerman clips that were included with the speakers over the holes and screwed in the speaker.
And for the back speakers I did the same except that I didn't do any grinding, because the back speaker holes were bigger in the back.
Easy!

Even $300 5 1/4 component mids wouldn't put out bass, they are too small. Althouhg I would rather die then own any SOny audio product I don't want you hating them for the wrong reason.

I you have a jig saw then take the stock speaker trace it onto a 1/4 peice of MDF you can get at the Home depot. Then cut it out. then cut the hole the size you need it and just mount the wood then the new speaker.

Sony is Pathetic
Have a Nice Day

I was pretty sure that the small size was one of the issues, but still.............oh well.............I just bought a pair of Pioneer 6/9's
(4-way) for the back........that's much bigger and I am hoping for a better bass....

Agreed. I spent $400 on a fancy sony CD player which looked good, but performed like *** (ricer cd player?). Then I bought a $175 Jensen and it outperformed the sony

Sony is like honda.
