Yes. Higher than 87 is pointless. In case you doubt it, I ran 91 and 87 on Willow Springs International Raceway. No difference.

well, now, hold on a minute fellas, there is a GREAT difference in fuel economy with 91 as apposed to 87. take for instance, i filled up and went through 3 half tanks of 91 octane fuel on my way down to kentucky this past week. i recieved an average of 30.48 miles to the gallon in my automatic 94lx. on the way back, i used strictly 87 octane gas for the entire 700 miles of my trip. my average gas mileage, about 31.02 mpg. now... where is the economy at guys? just in how much you spend on the ****.... think, are you going to spend $1.46 to get 30 mpg, or $1.67 to get 30 mpg... it doesn't make sense. i'll have to experiment with this, some people swear they notice a difference between the extremes in octane. but i will leave you with this story... buddy of mine was in the navy for 13 years of his life, managing carrier deck landing guidance systems, and between a layover at an air base, some soldier had the wonderful idea to throw in some additive into his Kawasaki Ninja's tiny fuel tank...basically so he could run high octane and top out his bike. i think it was somewhere upwards of 105 octane.. alot more... basically, jet fuel. knocked his bike up to about 120 mph and BOOOM, bye bye. the bike exploded, his legs seperated from his torso and needless to say, so was his head and half of his right arm. i can't recollect the details, but if you swear the 91 octane is better than the 87... go half way and get the 89 octane, isn't worth the money to run higher than oem spec.
peace

I suppose it's possible that you can get something out of 89. But if you need 91 your timing must be off or something.

You've got a turbo, though

Sorry if I sound like a dick in being adamant about using 87 octane though. I used to always run 91 -- I never noticed a difference switching to 87 -- in fact, I've only gotten better mileage. (Though that may be due to smarter driving )

Maybe its just me but my 323 pings on 87, not like really bad but every so often when I work the motor hard. So I always run 91 now, car runs like a champ. And I always drive my car hard so might aswell run 91 to be on the safe side.

Jet fuel wouldn't have done anything like that at all. It's kerosene....i.e. Diesel. if he did add a little to his gasoline all it would have done was smoke pretty bad and not run as fast as if he didn't add anything to his fuel........not saying that you're lying just clarifying that puttting jet fuel in your car is no different then putting deisel in it, besides the fact that deisel has a little more additives like oil and stuff in it.

Use 87 octane. If you get knock then use 89... Prety simple. The manual recommends 87 octane.

I did the conversion to US funds and it says 1 euro is about $1.17US, duh?! I just realized that is for a liter not a gallon, ouch!
So how many liters does it normally take to fill up your car?
