What do you think about colored tint?

Is it true that black (non-metallic) tint fades over time? If so, what is the timeframe that we are talking about? Is tint easy to remove and install new tint?

If it's cheap do-it-yourself tint it fades within a year maybe. If it's industrial grade it shouldn't fade and you can get an anti-scratch guarentee.

Why not put both colors!! I've heard of people installing a light black tint with a light silver behind it. It makes it slightly reflective I think.

Why not try this with yellow. Install a light black then a light yellow behind. If you're going to install it you won't loose much besides time and a few bucks.

Also, the purple-ing effect on tints is cause by amonia which is a product commonly found in product like windex. If you want your tint staying black, just use soap and water!

body color matched tints look alright, like the yellow tint on a yellow car flows, it's nice. either than that, black is the way to go, and unless you've done a tint job more than twice without air bubbles or creases in the film, don't attempt tinting... let the pros do it, if there is one thing i do hate more than tints darker than 20-25% is creases and bubbles in a tint job... just looks like ****. depending on car color, you can go with different styles, and the tribal decals...eh, looks phat as hell, but function wise, you're windows are meant to be see thru so you can SEE traffic and cars coming towards you. my buddy's camaro can't be driven after sundown, and even so, looks like night outside during a bright sunny day with his 5% tint all around. 40-50% all around should give you the look you want and the visibility you need to see out of your windows.
peace

Ended up going with "normal" tint. Went with 35% up front and 20% in the back. Looks pretty good.

I would loove to do some reflective tints on my car but they are illegal and cops love to screw people here. Especially hooked up cars.

Anyone have any pics of reflective metallic tint on a Vivid Yellow P5, or any yellow car? A local shop recommends that tint, and they quoted me $220 for my car.

I saw one up here with gold reflective tint. Really complimented the yellow well. I don't have pictures though.
