Question Adding Colored Leather to OEM Steering Wheel

Has anyone tried to add new colored leather to thier steering wheel?

I've seen some websites that seem to suggest that you need to strip off the existing leather, and then add the new leather. This is not a DIY job right? If anyone has had this done professionally, I'd be interested in the cost and how long it too the leather pros to do this.

My goal is to add leather color to both my steering wheel and stick shift. Not the whole thing - just part of each for a cool contrast. Thanks.
