sub enclosure

I have a 97 protege and I am going to be putting in a new system. I thought I would get the guru's (and anyone else's) opinion on what type of enclosure I should use. I am deciding between ported or sealed. I have two 12" Rockford Fosgate Hx2 subs(RFD2212) that will be pushed with a 81000D MTX amp. the subs are 500 RMS each and the amp is supposed to be about 600W RMS(its been moded so it can push up to 1800W at peak). This is a mono amp, so the subs will be bridges together. Thanks ahead of time.

also, how much space are you willing to give up? two 12's in a ported or bandpass box will be huge.

Sealed boxes are smaller, but require more power for the same output volume as a ported/BP box. Sealed boxes can hit lower than a ported or BP box can.

I personally prefer sealed boxes, Sealed boxes can hit hard, but you won't be heard from 10 blocks away. It's also the easiest on the woofer.

the most important thing though, is to match the box to the woofer. Use the spec sheet they come with. The manufacturer usually recommends what type of box the woofers perform best in. and that can sometimes be more than one type, so then it's up to your personal tastes.

dual bandpass? describe this. i know 4th, 6th, and 8th order. you won't be able to build a proper 8th order your first try at it. and you won't be able to find calculations for it either, cause bose holds the patents. 6th orders sound sweet, but usually take a coulple tries to get them right. 4th order is probably what you mean. one side sealed, one ported. they sound decent, and bump for the tuned frequency, but i don't like them all that much. they are also more likely to damage your subs, cause you won't be able to hear distortion.
pretty sure he meant a 4th with 2 woofers.
