Hey, all!

I do the Miata forum audio FAQ and thought I'd share a few bits that might be of interest to you all here at the Protege forum.

The FAQ has the complete general pinout for the double-DIN head unit, including info on steering wheel controls and other such interesting bits.

Also, I just got a copy of the Miata Workshop Manual and put in a bunch of test/diagnostic modes found on these head units. Might help if your Ford/Mazda modular stereo is acting up!

Just giving you a shout! Watch for me with the top down...

Stephen

Thanks man!

A couple of us here have been interested in this, so it's nice to see info from those who have actually taken the plunge!

Dale.

Actually, I accidentally deleted the tech specs for the wheel controls. I'll fix it as soon as I find my notes...

But other stuff, like the amp turn-on pin, should be of interest to all! And the trouble code stuff is kind of fun.

OK, I found the resistance values again and added them back in. I also have the pinout for the other connector and the tape/CD interface there. No use for these yet, but it's there.

Enjoy!

Sweet!

Thanks man.

I read the thread in the RX-8 forum and checked this out. I will be adding an Ipod this summer, so I really appreciate the work others have done. If I get REALLy ambitious, I may see if I can figure out what the bus signalling is, as I have access to protocol analyzers at work (I just haven't wanted to be the one to take the time and figure out the pinouts by revers engineering).

Good work.

Do you know the RMS wattage of the 2001-2003 Double Din systems?
